Nurse Director

POSITION SUMMARY: 

A salaried position responsible for all nursing staff and clinical nursing operations. Administrative responsibility for risk management, reimbursement, QM and all programs associated with the Endoscopy Center.  

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS

  1. Participate at a senior-management level in all planning, budgeting, policy making, and decision-making related to the clinical operations involving nursing staff.

  2. Ensures that nursing aspects related to risk management, reimbursement, financial management, and other administrative functions are incorporated into operational systems. Monitors outcomes, budget results, patient satisfaction surveys, and other indicators of nursing performance, including regulatory requirements and licensure.

  3. Establishes a human resource plan for nursing, including the need for numbers and types of nurses and related allied health staff. Works with human resources specialists and the Charge Nurse to recruit, select, orient, and train new staff.  

  4. Makes sure the performance and productivity of all the staff are evaluated on a regular basis throughout the year and annually. Makes decisions on appropriate corrective actions and development opportunities—coaches and counsels staff as needed to maintain a high standard of care.  

  5. Maintains high-quality nursing care by staff through continuous improvement of standards and protocols. Ensures all staff are trained to meet the standard of care as well as regulatory standards.  

  6. Stays current with state, federal, and payer regulations/requirements and updates professional standards for nursing for the endoscopy center.  

  7. Professionally responsible for Southwest Endoscopy philosophy and programs to maintain quality care.  

  8. Responsible for the supervision of all staff.

  9. Maintains employee records.

  10. Implementation and maintenance of policies.

  11. Development of orientation plan for all staff.

  12. Oversight of Infection Control and CQI activities in coordination with physicians.

  13. Responds to changing circumstances •

  14. Acts as Security Administrator for Quality Net and NHSN • Acts as CSOS Coordinator.

Required Education and Experience

​

  • BSN Required.

  • Current New Mexico Nursing License.

  • A minimum of 10 years of nursing experience with progressively increasing management/ operations experience.

  • Current ACLS certification.
